Technical content exercise

Print the test documents. Identify the errors and indicate how you would fix them. Then compare your answers to ours by viewing the answer documents, which show how AVS would correct the errors (in highlighted text) and describe the reasons for the corrections.

Note: In some cases, there are multiple ways to eliminate the problem—for instance, by rewriting the offending text. Therefore, some of your answers may correctly address the problems, yet differ from ours.

There are two types of computer searches. One is the globel search in which the computer locates every ocurrence of the search string you specify (in this case, Tom Jones) and substitutes a replacement string (Armena Gonzales) through the manuscript. A search string–the string of characters you are searching for, can be a group of word’s, a single word, a part of a word, or even a single character. Note that your computer sees spaces the same as it sees other characters, therefore type a space before or after you’re search string only when its a necessary part of what you you need to find and replace. The alternate search locates the search string you specify and asks you to approve each change before actually making it. This is a safer but, much slower, process.
