For the past 10 years, AVS Group and Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota have collaborated on the development of powerful marketing tools for effectively recruiting prospective students. An all-inclusive video (spanning an entire academic year) was created highlighting key components of campus life including: academics, spirituality, staff and professors, athletics, career preparation, and community involvement. Personal accounts of SMU experiences were delivered through student and staff testimonials to provide an up-close and unscripted view of the university.
Through the use of short, candid video clips, the Saint Mary’s University message is being delivered online in an engaging format where prospective students and their parents can navigate between topics addressing their interests. Web sites are a primary destination for students researching colleges. A DVD was also produced for use at college fairs and for mailing to inquirers, alumni, and to high school guidance counselors. The enhanced DVD contains a short, high-energy introduction to SMU, additional video content, and links to various pages of the university’s Web site.
The Web based and DVD recruitment tools are helping Saint Mary’s University to attain their recruitment goals through:
- Raising awareness and generating interest in the academic, religious, and recreational opportunities that Saint Mary’s University has to offer by showcasing different perspectives from current students, professors, and administrative staff.
- The up-close testimonials from current Saint Mary’s students and professors serve as a true reflection of a new student’s expectations for their university experience at Saint Mary’s.
- The Web-based video and linked DVD motivate students to further explore Saint Mary’s Web site and prompt them to schedule campus visits. The dual method of delivery reaches a larger audience in the most convenient means for their viewing.
