The Ho-Chunk Nation hired The AVS Group to provide event and presentation support
for the Nation’s General Council Meeting held at the La Crosse Center in September.
The Ho-Chunk Nation chose to work with AVS again in 2005 because of their satisfaction
with the expert technical assistance AVS provided for the 2004 event.
The AVS Group’s primary purpose was to provide high quality video projection for two
large screens in the main arena at the La Crosse Center. The projected information
allowed the members of the Ho-Chunk Nation to better understand the issues that they
were voting on.
The AVS Group provided a five-person technical team to support the meeting. There was
a full day of set-up and rehearsal the day prior to the meeting. AVS collaborated with
the Ho-Chunk Nation on developing the equipment layout and plan for the elaborate video
projection requirements in order to minimize cost, while ensuring redundancy for back-up
in case of equipment failure. Flexibility was the key again this year as AVS needed to be
ready with almost every form of media possible, including video tape, paper copy, Power
Point, still images, etc. In addition, The AVS Group coordinated resources, event logistics,
and managed the schedule to provide quality assurance. AVS teamed with a supplier to
provide electronic voting to poll the audience of over 1,000 people on various issues
covered during the meeting. AVS also teamed with the La Crosse Center, who provided expert
support with the audio and lighting requirements.
Ed Wais, president of The AVS Group said, “We enjoyed once again assisting The Ho-Chunk
Nation in their Annual Council Meeting. Because of our involvement in the 2004 meeting,
we had an understanding of the necessary format and technical requirements and could
offer recommendations to streamline aspects of this year’s meeting.”
